This recipe is my mothers. Very simple and apparently child-friendly since we always seemed to enjoy it as children. This recipe makes one large load or two smaller ones. I usually make 2 smaller ones and freeze one or use the second for a couple of lunches.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs of ground meat. (I use a combination of ground waygu and ground pork to get good fat for moisture)
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 jumbo eggs (or 2 small eggs)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 jar of Pepperidge Farm brown beef gravy.
  • 1 small onion, of half of a large onion, diced
  • Optional: tomato paste to add to the top of loaf.

Directions:

Preheat oven for 350

Combine meat, oatmeal, onion, egg, and half the jar of gravy with salt and pepper.

Once mixed, place into a loaf pan and bake for 60 minutes uncovered (for 2 small loafs) for one large loaf, add extra 20 minutes.
