I’m not even going to pretend I loved this process. Thinking about finding someone to begin this process was stressful, calling people to come quote the project was stressful, deciding on someone was stressful….then I had neverending nightmares for weeks about this project. I dreamt trees fell on our house in various places, the grading was improperly done and ponds formed in our yard, that our house slid down into the creek because crappy work made everything soooo completely unstable and it became loose. All sorts of wild things that I also know couldn’t happen. It’s worth noting I’m an incredible vivid and lucid dreamer…so a lot of this felt very real upon waking up. haha. Out of all the things that could possibly give me nightmares…it’s construction on my own house. This was beyond wild.

Because the pushing down of trees and grading wasn’t stressful enough for me, I had to line up someone to add on to our initial irrigation install in the front and sides of our home. We used Picture Perfect Landscape and Irrigation. Luckily, they were available to also begin our landscape lighting. We’ll add more to it as we figure out our landscaping. I’m hopeful they will be an option to use in the future for our outdoor living area project next year. Planning for that is already in the works…via Pinterest first.

Two very long weeks and a ton of sogginess later (due to all of the underground springs)…we finally made it to the finishline. Is it perfect? No. Am I ok with that? Yes. The imperfections can be ironed out later. We didn’t want to go through the hassle of pulling a permit to disturb the creek area and the guys had to stay around 50 feet away from it. We are already in the process of cutting down more trees ourselves to add to our firewood stack and cleaning up the creek bed to rid it of weeds, and whatever other debris has washed into it that we’ve not been able to easily lay hands on until now.
