Where do I begin? This bathroom has been 4 years in the making. The ultimate test of a marriage. I didn’t realize how terrible remodeling can be for couples. Every time either of us mentioned to someone were were remodeling, there was comments of “Oh wow, good luck”, “Thinking about divorce yet? lol”…and things of that tone. Throughout the process I had numerous people tell me they worked in cabinet design, flooring, lighting, etc tell me the gigantic arguments couples would get into over making decisions on remodeling. They were talking about full out arguments in the middle of the store which continued on at home, some ending in divorce over the the other persons complete inability to waiver on any detail of their demands. The remodel process already made me anxious enough, now I’m hearing all of this? Shew.
I can absolutely understand how a remodel can test a marriage. I truly do. However, for us, it wasn’t too bad. I wish I didn’t have any knowledge in construction and the process would have gone a lot smoother. Ignorance is bliss….until there’s a problem, of course. However, it’s truly hard to ignore and obvious dip in a freshly laid tile showerpan. That’s when I lost it and the anxiety consumed me. I can overlook cosmetic blenishes here and there. I can fix a lot of things. A shower floor? Sure….but I’m not going to. Especially when we paid someone else to do it. I lost it yet again when the solution was to ‘simply’ chissle out the dipped tiles and make them right…which would compromise the waterproofing. I was done. We ended up going through 2 more contractors afterward and it finally got fixed and finished. All is well now.

All fixtures and valves in the bathroom
All products shown in the bathroom
Bathtub is from Magnus Home Products. Fun fact about them…the founder was a cofounder of Signature Hardware. When Ferguson bought Signature Hardware the cofounder formed a new company and hired many of the people who were let go during the merger. They carry a lot of the same products for a little less. Magnus customer service is fabulous. They personally sent me photos from their stock room in the middle of the pandemic to show me the tub and also measure it to ensure the measurements on the website were accurate.
Art is Rorschach from Art.com
Fixtures are all Kohler, their Componets collection. The recessed rain shower the Real Rain, Toilet, and bidet are by and all purchases were made on Build.com. I have all products linked above.
Tile is from Flordia Tile from their Time 2.0 collection and the color is Natural Black. It’s a through-body tile which means if the tile is chipped or scratched, you wont notice because the color is consistent all the way through. I had THE hardest time ordering tile. I originally ordered tile from the Tile Shop that was supposed to be a through-body tile and instead received a top glazed tile. On top of that, I called several flooring companies to get a replacement tile so I could sent the other back to the Tile Shop. I simply could not get a return call back to order from them. It was just wild. I posted my dilemma on social media because I was just tired. So tired. Amy with Allen’s Flooring in Big Stone Gap, VA reached out and offered to help me get what I needed. I’m so thankful. I could not recommend her enough. The process was so easy. The tile was delivered to me within a week by the manufacturer and my tile guys were able to do the install with not too much time wasted on waiting on the tile.
Countertops are Absolute Black granite with a leathered finish. Romeros Granite did the order and install and they were phenomonal to work with. They also did the small vanity for our laundry room. We will continue to use their services in the future.
Mirrors are from Ikea. I needed a tall slim mirror and a custom job would take a while. These were purchased to be temporary but we really ended up liking them. We thought about adding matching trim to them, but they are likely staying as is.
Cabinets are the Shenandoah Cabinerty from Lowes in Maple and the color is Mocha Glaze. We chose to match the bathroom cabinets with the kitchen cabinet that already came with our house. I’m nowhere near ready or willing for a kitchen renovation.
Paint color for the bathroom is Sherwin Williams – Repose Grey.
What is that delicious dark paint in on the oppos walls around the tub?
It’s Urban Bronze by Sherwin Williams.
