This wasn’t even on my to-do list. I assumed, at best, we would replace the laminate flooring, new cabinets and paint. Suddenly, we have a leak in the toilet in the half bath directly above the laundry room. I only noticed it one day when I saw a black spot on the ceiling and decided poking it was the best option in trying to determine what it was. When I poked it, my finger went straight through into the abyss of the drywall and I felt some type of way. Not a good feeling. One thing led to another and I started with a hole in the ceiling to assess the damage and realized the water traveled behind the cabinets and down the wall and had to remove it all to determine the extent of the damage and just ended up redoing the whole thing.

My husband jokes it’s the 2 year laundry room. He’s almost right, it’s been a year and 3 months. Those 3 months count. It’s one of those rooms that out of the way that nobody ever sees but me, really, so it went fairly slow. Also, picking a sink has been THE worst because there’s just so many sizes. I really wanted something much larger but the space didn’t all for it.

Cabinets from Shendoah Cabinetry, style Winchester in color linen.

I decided to leave this room crisp and white. Paint is Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.

Washer and Drier are LG. We went with a top loader washer since we have the room and I’m beyond tired of the maintenance of a front loader, bending over constantly…not to mention the “efficent” tiny amount of water used for each load. This allows for the ability to add more water and get a good soak to items that need it. Not to mention it…IT FITS KING COMFORTERS. I’ve been using this set for a few months now and I recommend it for those that have the room. The drier door opens two ways, up and down, or to the side. I actually use them both equally. I love the extra water feature and the steam drier. The dryer rack I purchased separately for the drier is literally one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Washing shoes, hats, sweaters, and dog toys is a breeze now. I used to dread it but now it’s a complete non-issue. 10/10 recommend.

Flooring is Flordia Tile in Time 2.0 Natural Black ordered for me via Amy Hubbard with Allen’s Flooring and Paint in Big Stone Gap, VA. As I mentioned in my master bath remodel post, she really came though after the bait and switch incident I experienced with The Tile Shop and countless attempts to reach various flooring shops, I couldn’t get anyone to return my calls to place a tile order. It seems challenging to find people to actually do any work, regardless of how small it is. I have no idea why I didn’t call her to begin with.
